The ever-evolving Bill Rieflin Band has now ventured into it's FYAD
period, expect a tour with KMFDM and an apperance at RE-TG this year

There's a site, the name of which I can't remember, that does a "sounds like"
graph based on surveying people who sign up to it. It's displayed as the name
of the band you choose in the middle of the screen with other band names
floating around it. Maybe someone else remembers where it is.

Found it, it's Gnod's statistics - http://www.gnod.net/ - but forget about it.
Dunno what's happened to it, but the graphs have turned to shite. They must
have lost their database at some stage.

Or perhaps it was simply swamped by people who are convinced that all
electronic dance acts are industrial and all sound alike?

Nah, the hits are too weird for that. Ministry closer to Peter Murphy, Curve
and Asian Dub Foundation than Nine Inch Nails?
http://www.gnod.net/music/related/Ministry.asp Fischerspooner as close to SPK
as Miss Kittin and the Hacker?

It used to be pretty good, but it seems now that it's based on a few people
with odd tastes. IIRC, it's built based on band's you like rather than who you
think sounds like someone else - You type in three of your favourite bands and
then click like/dislike/don't know to their suggestions. It's hard to imagine
it would have become worse rather than better over time.

Or, as I said originally, they may have lost their database at some stage -
thus meaning they have to go back to scratch, but lose their regular users
because the database is now based on the weird record collections of the
software designers and makes little sense. Such is computers.

Yes, I know 'KMFDM' . Now I know some songs from 'merzbow'... What I know
has less to do with music but more with a soundcollage. Sounds like
'SkinnyPuppy' or so for me. 'merzbow' is not that kind I search for.

Some samples from 'My life with the thrill kill kult' I found sounds nice,
but not hard or rough enough for me. Still to much pop.

So I am still searching...

Chemlab is good.. I'm awaiting my copy of Oxidizer. Some of clips on the
site of the new material sounded rather bland.. especially the first clip
they put up, but of course people kissed the hell out of Jared's ass on the
hydrogenbar forum over the first clip. I remember reading a post where
someone made a comment about how the clip sounded like something from "10
Ton Pressure".. I don't really see how unless they're referring to the
annoyingly repetitive percussion in the clip.. and even then it didn't sound
all that much like TTP material. It's funny because people do the same
thing on the sister machine gun message board.. talk about some
ass-kissing...
However, you can't go wrong with previous Chemlab material.

That was more for his Skinny Puppy comment, which admittedly the samples on
the i,parasite site don't do justice too, as they're more focused on the
catchy elements of a couple of songs...

Early MLWTTKK is very good late-80s industrial (specifically, the album
"I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits" and their first couple 12"s,
compiled on the TVT reissue of "Kooler than Jesus"), and you may like
those a lot better. after that, they kinda morphed into a cracked-out
disco band.

Quick TKK review:
- I See Good Spirits. . . - I'm gonna agree with Paul for one of the first
times.. a few tracks are skippable, though. Contains the definitive (in my
opinion) TKK song, "...And this is what the devil does!" The track "These
Remains" is excellent, but I don't see it being talked about much.
- Kooler than Jesus - a few skippable tracks, but otherwise it's pretty
good.. not too different from "I See Good Spirits"
- Confessions of a Knife - again, a few skippable tracks, but a little more
solid overall than the previous releases. Best songs would be "Ride the
Mindway", "Rivers of Blood, Years of Darkness" and "Burning Dirt"
- Sexplosion - a lot less religious reference.. TKK gets a little more
sleazy with this release. All the singles from this album are good, plus the
songs "Dream Baby", "Princess of the Queens", and "A Continental Touch". a
number of good songs, but possibly my least favorite TKK
- 13 Above the Night - Not too many skippable tracks here, my most favorite
TKK album. With the exception of the track "Dirty Little Secrets", it's
chock-full of good songs. excellent album...
- Hit and Run Holiday - this is a fun album.. kinda reminds me of what I
know about the 50's and 60's. I'd say it's the follow-up to Sexplosion. "Hot
Blood Risin'" is a very energetic song.. just a fun album overall
- Dirty Little Secrets - remix album - don't have it yet, but one of the
"Hard Fast and Beautiful" tracks is good
- A Crime for All Seasons - I don't know why this got bad reviews, because
it's a pretty good album overall. Not quite relative to previous TKK
material, but not so different either. Lots of guitar, more harsh sounding
than previous TKK. pretty solid album, in my opinion
- Reincarnation of Luna - I haven't bought this yet, but I've heard a few
tracks from it and I've liked what I heard. Seems like a mix of smooth and
crunchy. Nowhere near "Confessions" material. Check out "Girl Without a
Planet", "Temptation Serenade", and "The Untouchable Class"
- Golden Pillz - overall, a waste of a remix album.. a few decent remixes i
guess.. that's about all i can say about it
- Elektrik Inferno Live - pretty good live CD, has a bunch of older material
on it, but it makes me wonder how much of Groovie's voice is actually being
sung live or played off a DAT.
