3" cd cover art question

i am trying to find the dimensions for cover art of a 3" cd.
in the near future i plan on releasing a 3" cd. i have the
cover art already planned, but am unsure what size is best
adequate for printing. this is coming from a digital image.
anyone have any ideas?

If you are planning to press this CD, you should contact the pressing
plant you are working with. They will have all the specifications
regarding the size of the disc and their printers. If you want to print
a sticker to put on a 3" CDR, I would guess that there are template
onlines (prolly on the sites of the stickers' manufacturer). If not,
here comes the good ol' trial and error.

you know a place willing to press 20 copies of a disc.
basically i am going to distribute a few copies during
a show......

For such a small batch, 150 dpi is more than enough. You can go up to 300 dpi
or more if you plan on going for professional printing, but for 20 copies that
wouldn't be worth it.

What's the artwork like? Mostly Line-art and text or picture?

I'd go with 300pdi (or more.. depending on the printer used) just so the text is
readable. Also, don't use .jpg as it is a lossy format, or .gif as you will
have to use 256 colors. Inquire if your printing shop supports the .png format.
If they don't you'll have to go with TIFF uncompressed.

the original file is in both tiff format, as well as psd
(adobe format).
the jpg was just for size purposes.

i have found that printing at 4.75 inches works perfect
for a 5 inch jewel case.
