I have a few questions at the end of the list.

KK Null/James Plotkin - Aurora
Tactile - Recurrence & Intervention
Various Artists - Interiors
Scorn - Ellipsis, Gyral
Coil - Unnatural History 2, Protection, Philm 10", Stolen and
Contaminated Songs
Nurse With Wound - Rock N' Roll Station 2CD
Autechre - Tri Repetae 2CD, Incunabula
Gescom - Sounds of Machines our Parents Used,
Gescom vs Ad Vanz - Viral
Snog - Dear Valued Customer
Severed Heads - Come Visit the Big Bigot
Biosphere and Higher Intelligence Agency - Polar Sequences, Birmingham
Frequencies
Haujobb - Solutions for A Small Planet
Wagon Christ - Throbbing Pouch
Meat Beat Manifesto - Subliminal Sandwich 2CD (in particular the
second CD), Storm the Studio
Delerium - Semantic Spaces
Front 242 - Live Target
Ministry - The Fall
Various Artists - Basic Channel comp. in metal tin
Aphex Twin - I Care Because you Do..
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
Various Artists - Wax Trax Black Box
Renegade Soundwave - In Dub
Skinny Puppy - Brap, Last Rights*
Download - III
The Orb - Auntie Aubrey (1st 2CD remixes compilation)*
Orbital - (self titled)*

It seems that the majority of it came out between '86 and '96. I'm
familiar with more than what i've listed, but these ones stand out for
me. I put stars next to Orbital, Orb and Skinny Puppy because I still
haven't heard all of their work and was wondering if anyone could
recommend any other albums by these bands that should be on this list.
Also, what music should have been on this list, but isn't? It'd be
interesting to see what someone else's favs list has on it!

I did finally get my hands Chi. It has a few very good tracks at the start
of album, the rest I found a bit, ah, bland. What makes you such a keen
supporter? :)

Because Jeyenne goes out of his way to avoid EBM cliches, because he has
such a distinctive vocal style, because....

Too many reasons, not enough sleep :) I'd agree that the first half has
the better tracks but I wouldn't call the latter half "bland" :) Also,
while on the topic, Nicque has left the band. Oh well, it's not like
they're ever coming to Australia anyway...

And they are absolutely amazing live. Saw them twice earlier this year, in
Slimelight and Electrofest, and they're brilliant.

Most people will recommend VIVIsectVI as well. Personally, I find that there's
something worthwhile in any of their albums, with the exception of The Process,
but your mileage may vary.

Beethoven*, Boards of Canada, Dryft, Gridlock, Imminent Starvation, Mozart*,
Squaremeter, Winterkälte.

*Those two are - for obvious reasons - not electronic musicians, but still
should be part of everyone's répertoire.

Quick question, when were you exposed to this music. In other words,
how much of this was new at the time when you first heard it?

although you're not addressing me, i got into it a little in 1996, but only
on the surface. it wasn't until 1997 and 1998 when i really got into
industrial related music. most of the stuff i prefer came out between 86 and
96, also..

For me it's the opposite. I got into this kind of music back in 86 and prefer
now prefer stuff that has come out since then.

np: The morning traffic report on the radio.

Yeah, the 80's were the times. Its back then when I listened and fell
in love with Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream :) Although it took me a
long time to discover there are many more.

Now what I would recommend is Dissecting Table. Sure I would.

Actually I _was_ in fact addressing everybody.

I was exposed to industrial music in the early 1990s, but hated it. It
wasn't until 1999 that I really started buying my own CDs and seriously
listening to it.

I do like the new stuff, but there is plenty of stuff from the mid-1980s
to late 1990s that simply blows me away, leaving me with a, "Why is this
stuff not MORE popular?" feeling.

Essential Orb release has to be UFOrb - prolly the best ambient dance record
of all time
Adventures beyond the ultraworld (1st album)
Live 93 - good live cd featuring performances from Glastonbury in the early
90's plus a couple of studio mixes.

They went a bit pants after that but came back with a few gems with
'Orblivion' (actually one of my fave orb albums) and 'Cydonia'
The new release 'Bicycles & Tricylces' also has a few crackers on it.
