who regularily listens to the alice cooper rock show? i found it a
fair while back on dab and have been listening to it most week
nights for over a year or so now . i've discoverd an awfull lot of
'classic' rock songs i had never heard of before and cannot believe
i never heard before, pluss diiscoverd a lot of rock songs i grew
up with are covers of better original versions..
concidering i grew up listening to mostly punk, new wave and indie
during the middle 70's to early 80's, i guess i would have missed
out on propper good rock. back when i was a kid, punk was a kick in
the balls to old school rock and anything before it was borign old
hippy shit.
i think punk was a bit short sighted on that score. needed none the
less, but still short sighted.
Alice's live shows were great
Still are.
he's touring here this year. i saw a link to his shows (35 quid a
ticket) earlyer on when checking my email.
i imagine his shows are pretty good, i can remember the fuss made
about him in the 70's and people trying to have him banned.
i know i remember all the noise about him ,
i saw him in toronto around 72 , 73 , he cut his head off ,
but now with so much more live media coverage ,
shock rock just ain't the same
I've missed 2 or 3 shows since the Billion $ Babies tour.
That'd make 15 or so times I've seen Cooper live.
Alice still still kicks ass in concert.
And Tangerine Dream keeps on going, now to the next generation.
I like the electro-EBM guys 'n' gals, especially lately the gals
(Shikhee, Emileigh Rohn, Erica Dunham, Stacia Tucker), better than
straight electronic, but still love the TD classics:

Rubycon Part I/ Zeit Part IV/ Rubycon Part II is a great great hour-
long sequence, the Zeit part "Zeit" fitting beautifully with the
Caesar-Rubicon interpretation of Rubycon (Rubycon Part I is arrival at
the river, Zeit Part IV "Zeit" is the sleepless calculating overnight
passage, and Rubycon Part II is the crossing at dawn, into the Civil
War and the end of the Roman Republic).

I was listening to Aqua t'other day, too.

I must admit that I love the old analogue synth sounds of classic electronic
albums. Electronica just doesn't cut it for me. Perhaps I'm getting old but
listening to that sort of music makes me want to change the station.

I also love the first 3 Kraftwerk albums because of their experimental and
evocative sound. The guys were pioneers of electronic music. They often had
to find work-arounds for the primitive equipment they had. YouTube has some
great video of their 1971 performances. Their later work was unique but it
lacked that original spark of inspiration, in my view anyway.

Sincerely,

Bruce Atchison - author of When a Man Loves a Rabbit and Deliverance from
Jericho.
